NORMAN — The Oklahoma volleyball team fell to RV Baylor 3-1 on Saturday night inside McCasland Field House.
After Baylor won the first set 25-20, the Sooners tied it up with a wild 36-34 win in set two. However, the Bears closed it out with 27-25 and 25-21 wins in the final periods.
Senior Alyssa Enneking and sophomore Kylee McLaughlin both finished the contest with double-doubles, their 14th and 11th of the season, respectively. Enneking totaled 21 kills and 11 digs while McLaughlin led the match with 41 assists and added 10 digs.
Defensively, Brianna Kadiku and Sarah Sanders led the match with nine blocks apiece. Keyton Kinley paced the Sooners with 27 digs, her highest total in a four-set match this season.
The Bears took an early lead with a 25-20 victory in the first set, using a 10-point run to establish a lead late in the set.
However, Oklahoma battled through a wild second set to win 36-34 and knot the match up at 1-1. The Sooners led late, 23-20, but a quick run by the Bears tied it up at 23-all. The two teams exchanged points back and forth, neither able to convert multiple set-point opportunities. After Baylor earned set point at 34-33, the Sooners scored three straight to clinch the set, including a kill from Enneking and a block by Kadiku and Enneking.
The third set also proved competitive, ending 27-25 for the Bears. The Sooners led for the majority of the fourth, but Baylor closed out the match on a nine-point run to clinch the match.
The Sooners head to Texas Tech on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. CT matchup with the Red Raiders. OU then returns home on Friday for Senior Night against TCU at 7 p.m. CT.
