NORMAN — Lincoln Riley’s players know the College Football Playoff scenario, just like anyone following the sport does.
It’s not hard to figure out with one weekend left.
An Oklahoma win against Texas on Saturday in the Big 12 Championship coupled with an Alabama win against Georgia in the SEC title game will almost certainly land the Sooners in the playoff.
And while coaches constantly preach a “one game at a time” mentality, this week there’s no avoiding the thought of what might lie ahead.
“We talk about it,” Riley said Wednesday. “If I just pretend like, alright, we’re not gonna talk about it, these guys are on their phones all the time, just like everybody else is.
“They hear all the talk, so we address the talk. We get it out in the open. Here’s what’s gonna be discussed. If you wanna do these things, here’s what you have to do, which is lock in on this one.”
The Sooners and Longhorns kick off at 11 a.m. Saturday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
