Sooners lose 2020 RB commit Jaylan Knighton

NORMAN, Okla. — Deerfield Beach (Fla.) 2020 running back Jaylan Knighton has de-committed from the Sooners, he announced on Twitter.

“People say you choose the school, not the coaches, which is not entirely true. Every school has nice campuses, weight rooms, stadiums, etc., but the people are what make these places special. That’s what I love most about OU. It’s been a little nerve racking that the people I knew best at OU are now gone. I’m confident that there are many more great people at OU that I just haven’t had a chance to get to know yet. Make no mistake about it I still love OU, but at this time I will be de-committing to take time to establish & strengthen these new relationships. This is the biggest decision in my life and the uncertainty across the college football landscape has both alarmed me & taught me a valuable lesson in due diligence.”

Knighton is the country’s No. 111 overall prospect, No. 11 running back and No. 14 player in the Sunshine State, with a four-star and 0.9511 rating, according to the industry-generated 247 Composite. By 247Sports, he’s a similar four-star with a 91 rating as the nation’s No. 134 overall prospect, No. 13 running back and No. 22 player in the Sunshine State.
