NORMAN –After posting program records on bars and floor and earning the highest score in the nation this season, the Oklahoma women’s gymnastics team held on to the top spot in this week’s rankings.
The Sooners, who tallied a season-best 198.325 on Friday, have now been the No. 1 team in the nation for a total of 57 weeks since the start of the 2015 season.
OU sits in the top spot with a 197.835 average. The rest of the top five remained unchanged with Florida at No. 2 (197.625), UCLA at No. 3 (197.570), Utah at No. 4 (197.205) and LSU at No. 5 (197.015). The Sooners also hold the top mark on vault with a 49.475 average. OU ranks second on bars (49.505) and beam (49.435) and moved up to third on floor (49.420).
Seven Sooners hold 24 individual rankings, highlighted by four gymnasts in the top 10 of the all-around rankings. Freshman Olivia Trautman took over the top spot with a 39.725 average, followed by junior Maggie Nichols at No. 2 with a 39.700 average. Senior Brenna Dowell (39.587) and sophomore Anastasia Webb (39.567) come in at No. 7 and No. 8, respectively.
Trautman, Nichols and Webb are all ranked in the top 25 on all four events and the all-around. Trautman ranks second on floor (9.950), 13th on vault (9.875), 16th on beam (9.875) and 23rd on bars (9.875). Nichols is ranked first on vault (9.950) and beam (9.950), third on bars (9.938) and 15th on floor (9.900).
Webb comes in at No. 4 on beam (9.920), 20th on floor (9.890), 21st on vault (9.858) and 22nd on bars (9.920).
Dowell is ranked on three events, sitting at No. 5 on vault (9.905), tied for sixth on beam (9.900) and seventh on floor (9.915).
Senior Nicole Lehrmann and junior Jade Degouveia are each ranked on a pair of events. Lehrmann ranks sixth on bars with a 9.930 average and 11th on vault (9.880). Degouveia is fourth on vault (9.915) and 23rd on floor (9.885). Rounding out the ranked Sooners is Karrie Thomas who comes in at No. 23 on bars (9.875).
OU returns to action Sunday, Feb. 10, for a Big 12 matchup with No. 7 Denver. The meet is slated for 3 p.m. CT at Magness Arena in Denver, Colo.
