The Longhorns (14-4, 9-1 Big 12) handed the Sooners (13-9, 5-5 Big 12) their third straight-set loss of the season 25-15, 25-20, 25-23.
Senior outside hitter Alyssa Enneking has reached double-digit kills in each of OU’s Big 12 matches this season, finishing Saturday’s contest with a team-best 12. Sophomore Kylee McLaughlin led the match with 31 assists.
Defensively, Brianna Kadiku assisted on all five of OU’s blocks, leading the contest. Keyton Kinley paced OU with 10 digs.
With a kill from Morgan Miller out of the first-set media timeout, the Sooners trailed by one at 15-14. However, the Longhorns scored on 10 of the next 11 serves to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
The second frame played out similarly as OU trailed 18-17 before the Longhorns earned set point with a 6-1 run. Although the Sooners scored twice at set point, a service error clinched the period for UT.
The Sooners used a 5-0 run to build a 10-5 lead early in the third. Although the Longhorns got within one at 15-14, OU rebuilt its advantage to 21-18 to force a Texas timeout. Out of the break, UT scored on six of the next seven chances to earn set point before closing it out with a kill.
Up next, Oklahoma returns to McCasland Field House on Nov. 3 to host Baylor, which is currently receiving votes in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll. The match is set for a 7 p.m. first serve, and tickets are on sale now.
