STILLWATER, Okla. – The Oklahoma wrestling team dropped its first dual match of the season to No. 4 Oklahoma State 41-2 in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
At 141 pounds, redshirt freshman Dom Demas grabbed the Sooners’ lone win of the day, but OU lost a point on an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty in the final bout of the day.
No. 16 Demas pulled off an upset of Oklahoma State’s No. 6 Kaid Brock in a 7-6 decision to put the Sooners on the board.
Demas opened the bout with a takedown and took a 2-1 lead after one period. The Sooner extended his lead to 5-2 in the second, but Brock tied things at 6-all in the third frame, using a takedown to even the score. An official review of the takedown revealed that Demas escaped, giving him a 7-6 lead to close out the bout.
With the victory, Demas moves to 15-3 on the year to lead the Sooners in wins.
