STILLWATER, Okla. The Oklahoma wrestling team dropped its first dual match of the season to No. 4 Oklahoma State 41-2 in Gallagher-Iba Arena.

At 141 pounds, redshirt freshman Dom Demas grabbed the Sooners’ lone win of the day, but OU lost a point on an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty in the final bout of the day.

No. 16 Demas pulled off an upset of Oklahoma State’s No. 6 Kaid Brock in a 7-6 decision to put the Sooners on the board.

Demas opened the bout with a takedown and took a 2-1 lead after one period. The Sooner extended his lead to 5-2 in the second, but Brock tied things at 6-all in the third frame, using a takedown to even the score. An official review of the takedown revealed that Demas escaped, giving him a 7-6 lead to close out the bout.

With the victory, Demas moves to 15-3 on the year to lead the Sooners in wins.

At 125 pounds, redshirt sophomore Zach Atencio was pinned by OSU’s No. 4 Nick Piccininni in 0:52. OU’s Anthony Madrigal was defeated by No. 5 Daton Fix in a 20-5 Tech Fall in the 133 bout.

Wrestling at 149, Davion Jeffries dropped a 10-4 decision to No. 14 Kaden Gfeller.

At 157, Oklahoma’s Justin Thomas was defeated by No. 18 Andrew Shomers in a narrow decision, 5-3. The Cowboys’ No. 10 Chandler Rogers pinned Jeremy Thomas in 1:53 in the 165 match, while No. 7 Jacobe Smith of OSU defeated Anthony Mantanona in a 19-6 major decision at 174.

At 184, OU’s Kayne MacCallum dropped to No. 15 Dakota Geer, 10-3. No. 8 Preston Weigel of OSU defeated Ruston Duke in a tech fall (16-1) at 197. In the heavyweight bout, Jake Boyd was pinned by No. 3 Derek White in 6:18.
