Sooner bowl outlook: Nov. 29

NORMAN, Okla. — The Sooners stayed ahead of the Ohio State Buckeyes in the penultimate College Football Playoff rankings Tuesday night, checking in at No. 5. So while they’ve been bowl eligible for a while, everything has come into full focus as far as their destination down the stretch. For the final time before a game, updates the most likely bowl scenarios for them.

“I mean, for us, certainly we want to be in the playoff,” said head coach Lincoln Riley. “No doubt about it we’ve wanted to be in the playoff all year, and after you lose one around midseason like we did, every game is you live and die that way. And if you don’t focus on any one singular game and you don’t win that game, then the playoff dream’s over. And so there’s really no new feeling about that. This game is no different than those other than this one also has a Big 12 Championship tied around it.

“And so that’s the only thing different about this one. But we’ve continued to improve as a team. We’ve continued to find ways to win by this approach, and we’re certainly not going to change it now.”

So now, without further ado, let’s look at all the possibilities dependent on a win or loss this weekend in the Big 12 Championship Game against Texas.
