NORMAN – Oklahoma guard Taylor Robertson was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week for the fourth time this season, the league office announced on Wednesday.
The McPherson, Kan., native averaged 19.0 points per game and posted a .542 field goal percentage in OU’s games against UConn and SMU. Robertson knocked down 11 3-pointers in two games last week, posting a .550 clip (11-of-20) from 3-point range.
Robertson finished with 23 points in OU’s game against the top-ranked Huskies, the most points scored by an individual player against UConn this season. The freshman was 8-of-15 from the field and sunk six 3-pointers against UConn last Wednesday. She has scored at least 20 points in six games this season.
In OU’s 77-61 win at SMU, Robertson buried five triples and finished with 15 points against the Mustangs. Robertson also added three assists in the Sooners’ road victory.
Robertson is the first Sooner to win Big 12 Freshman of the Week honors four times before the start of conference play. Oklahoma has won 11 Big 12 Freshman of the Week awards over the last two seasons.
Robertson leads the country with 51 made 3-pointers this season. The freshman’s 4.64 treys per contest also ranks first nationally. Her 51 triples this season already ranks as the fifth most made in one season by an OU freshman in school history.
The Sooners return home on Jan. 2 to face Texas Tech at 6:30 p.m. CT inside Lloyd Noble Center to open Big 12 play. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Oklahoma. Tickets and mini plans are available here.
