NORMAN – Oklahoma guard Taylor Robertson was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week for the third time this season, the league office announced on Monday.
The McPherson, Kan., native averaged 25.0 points per game and posted a .500 field goal percentage in OU’s games at New Mexico and Auburn. Robertson knocked down seven 3-pointers in each game last week, becoming the first player to in school history to make at least seven 3-pointers in back-to-back games.
The freshman finished with a season-high 27 points and finished 9-of-18 from the field with seven treys against Auburn on Sunday. Robertson led OU with 23 points at New Mexico last Wednesday.
Robertson has made at least six 3-pointers in four games this season and leads OU with 19.6 points per game. She ranks second in the Big 12 in scoring average and is averaging 5.1 3-pointers a game this year, which leads the league.
Nationally, Robertson ranks second with 36 3-pointers made this season. Robertson currently ranks second nationally in points per game this season among Division I freshmen.
She is the first Sooner since Danielle Robinson during the 2007-08 season to win three Big 12 Freshman of the Week honors during non-conference play.
