Junior Maggie Nichols and freshman Olivia Trautman have been named Major 12 gymnasts of the 7 days. Equally Sooners gave stellar performances in No. 1 Oklahoma’s close gain around No. 2 UCLA on Sunday.
Nichols was named Party Specialist of the 7 days for her performances on bars and beam.
Nichols anchored the uneven bars function for the Sooners, tallying a 9.925 to cap off what head coach K.J. Kindler termed their “best bars of the calendar year.” The Sooners totaled a 49.575 on bars.
She added a 9.975 from the anchor spot in equilibrium beam. Nichols’ clutch performance on beam aided salvage an uncharacteristic Faster beam performance and prevented UCLA from taking the guide heading into the ultimate rotation.
Trautman was named Newcomer of the 7 days for her vault and ground plan. She scored a 9.85 to assist the Sooners to a sturdy 49.425 rating on vault. She added a 9.95 to anchor a meet-clinching ground performance by the Sooners. Oklahoma tallied a 49.575 on ground.
“Floor has been a do the job in development for us, and I come to feel like we arrived now,” claimed Kindler soon after the meet.
The Faster duo shared the honor with Denver’s Maddie Karr.
Oklahoma is on the street this weekend, heading to Ann Arbor to encounter Michigan. The meet will acquire place at 11 a.m. CT on Saturday, March 9.
