OU then traveled to Waco, Texas, to face No. 21 Baylor on Friday. After the Bears (10-4, 2-2 Big 12) clinched the first two sets 25-23 and 25-15, the Sooners (9-7, 1-3 Big 12) claimed the third 25-16. However, BU closed it out with a 25-17 victory in set four.
Enneking put together her second 20-kill performance of the week with a match-high 20 kills. She added 16 digs for her third straight double-double. Sophomore Sarah Sanders led the contest with four blocks, tacking on 10 kills. McLaughlin led OU with 36 assists while Keyton Kinley paced the team with 20 digs.
Newcomers Make Big Impact
Seven of the 16 members of OU’s roster are wearing the Crimson and Cream for the first time this season. The Sooners welcomed four transfers this season in Brianna Kadiku (middle blocker, Memphis), Keyton Kinley (defensive specialist, Tennessee), Kylee McLaughlin (setter, Oregon State) and Haley Sanchez (defensive specialist, Bakersfield College). Additionally, OU signed three freshmen for the 2018 campaign: defensive specialist Aysia Harty (McKinney, Texas) and outside hitters Sabrina Simms (Argyle, Texas) and Olga Zampati (Athens, Greece).
Kadiku, Kinley and McLaughlin have started in all 16 of OU’s matches so far in 2018. Harty has played in each of the Sooners’ 61 sets, earning her first start against Pittsburgh and another at TCU.
Kadiku ranks second on the team with .82 blocks per set and third with 1.92 kills per set. Kinley has served as OU’s libero in each contest in 2018, leading the Sooners with 4.54 digs per set, ranking second in the Big 12. The Sooners’ starting setter, McLaughlin is averaging a team-best 10.57 assists per set and ranks first in the conference with 645 total assists.
Enneking Joins 1,000-Kill Club
With her 10th kill against Kansas on Wednesday, senior outside hitter Alyssa Enneking became the 14th player in OU history to reach 1,000 career kills. Overall, the League City, Texas, native finished the contest with a match-high 23 kills and added 19 digs for her ninth double-double of the season.
Enneking has set program records for kills twice this season. In the season opener against Xavier, she matched her own school record with 19 kills in a three-set match. Against VCU, Enneking tallied 27 kills, breaking her own record for kills in a four-set match (previously 26 kills).
Additionally, Enneking has produced two consecutive 20-kill matches and three straight double-doubles.
