OU trio headlines SI’s All-America Team

With the regular season in the rearview, Sports Illustrated released its 2018 All-America Team on Wednesday and the Oklahoma Sooners were well represented on the list.

Three members of Oklahoma’s record-setting offense were featured among SI’s All-Americans and each of those players were first-team selections in quarterback Kyler Murray, wide receiver Marquise Brown and guard Dru Samia.

Murray is the Heisman Trophy favorite following an incredible campaign in his first season as a starter for the Sooners. In 13 games this season, he completed 241 of 340 passes for 4,053 yards with 40 touchdowns and just seven interceptions while rushing for 892 yards and 11 scores on 123 carries. The former five-star prospect is on pace to break the FBS records for passing effiency (205.7 rating), yards per attempt (11.9) and Total QBR (96.0).

Joining Murray on the list was his top target in “Hollywood” Brown, who in his second season with the Sooners reeled in 75 catches for 1,318 yards and 10 touchdowns over 13 games. The junior wideout is tied for the national lead with seven receptions of at least 50 yards.

Samia is a four-year starter on arguably the best offensive line unit in the country. The 6-foot-5, 303-pound junior helped pave the way for the Sooners to average 253.9 yards per game on the ground while ranking second nationally at 6.7 yards per carry. He was named the Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year for his efforts.
