NORMAN, Okla. — The Sooners are already styling out of the gates, opening the season 8-1, but they’ll be styling a little more when they take on the USC Trojans at 8 p.m. CT Saturday at the BOK Center in Tulsa. They’re breaking out their Jumpman23 anthracite alternates, the team announced Friday afternoon.
It’s a slick look for a squad that’s mixed a pair of four-game winning streaks around its only loss of the season to Wisconsin. OU is six days removed from routing the Wichita State Shockers 80-48 at Chesapeake Energy Arena.
This contest against the Trojans marks the return trip of a narrow 85-83 Sooners victory last season at Staples Center. While that one featured 29 points from now-departed NBA rookie Trae Young, OU will look to reigning Big 12 Player of the Week Christian James to keep his early season momentum going. James is fresh off the first two double-doubles of his career against Notre Dame and Wichita State, ranking second in the league with 19.2 points per game through the first nine outings.
OU has won seven of 12 all-time meetings against USC, going 4-2 in the Sooner State. All six of those previous match-ups took place in Norman.
