OU Signs Two for 2019-20 Season

NORMAN — University of Oklahoma men’s golf head coach Ryan Hybl announced Tuesday the signing of two golfers to National Letters of Intent during the 2018-19 early signing period. Jake Holbrook and Turner Hosch will join the Sooners’ squad starting next season.

“Jake Holbrook and Turner Hosch will be great additions to our program next season. We’re excited about getting them on campus and see their development as Sooners,” Hybl said.

JAKE HOLBROOK

Granbury, Texas (Granbury HS)

Holbrook was a first team all-state selection in 2018 at Granbury High School and has been one of the top contenders in Texas high school golf over the last three years.

He has earned multiple top-five finishes in junior golf and qualified to compete in the Jackie Burke Cup. Holbrook finished tied for third at the 2017 AJGA Folds of Honor Championship, his best finish on the AJGA circuit.

Hybl on Holbrook: “Jake has really come into his own over the last 18 months or so and we’re excited about what he brings to our program. His ball striking is a definite asset and I know his short game will continue to develop. Jake loves Oklahoma and is ready to get to work.”

TURNER HOSCH

Highland Park, Texas (Highland Park HS)

Hosch brings a wealth of junior golf experience to the Sooners, competing in the 2018 Juniors Players Championship and the 2018 Junior PGA Championship. He has also played on the Junior Presidents Cup Team and participated in the Wyndham Cup in 2017. He’s currently ranked as the No. 21 recruit in the 2019 class by Junior Golf Scoreboard.

A native of Highland Park, Texas, Hosch was a 2017 AJGA All-American and took second place at the AJGA Junior All-Star Invitational in 2016.

Hybl on Hosch: “We are excited about Turner Hosch being a Sooner and the amount of experience he will bring to our squad next year. He has been able to compete at a high level over the last couple of years and I know he will be ready to work. Turner has the ability to keep the ball in play and is a very good iron player. He has been a Sooner his entire life, which is always fun to have guys like that our team.”

OU begins its spring schedule at the Puerto Rico Classic, Feb. 17-19, in Rio Mar, Puerto Rico.
