HAMPTON, Va. — The Oklahoma wrestling team upset No. 9/9/16/16 (Flo/Trackwrestling/InterMat/NWCA) Arizona State 21-19 Saturday to take third at the Virginia Duals.
On day two, OU defeated Old Dominion 27-14 in the consolation semifinal. That win set the Sooners up for a rematch with Arizona State. OU came back from an 11-point deficit, winning the last three bouts of the night to secure the victory.
“I am proud of our team today. Beating the No. 16 team is a good start to where we eventually want to be,” said head coach Lou Rosselli. “Every guy gave their maximum effort and that is all I have ever asked of them.”
