OU commit Jase McClellan scores 4 TDs in state title game

Oklahoma running back commit Jase McClellan took home Offensive MVP honors in the Texas Class 5A Division II Championship on Friday night at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The five-star junior racked up 149 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries and added a 22-yard touchdown reception to lift the Aledo Bearcats to a 55-19 win over Fort Bend Marshall, securing the program’s eighth state title.

McClellan scored on his very first touch of the game, taking a handoff up the middle and making one defender miss badly as he cut it to the outside and outran the defense to the end zone for a 42-yard score. The full play can be seen in the video at the top of the page.

He capped off the Bearcats’ next drive with a six-yard touchdown run, then added a two-yard score midway through the second quarter. His fourth and final score of the opening half came in the passing game as he took a screen pass on fourth-and-short and raced up the sideline for a 22-yard touchdown, as shown below.

McClellan didn’t even take a snap in the fourth quarter as the Bearcats cruised to a 36-point victory.

According to the 247Sports Composite, McClellan is ranked as the nation’s No. 17 overall prospect and No. 3 running back in the class of 2020. He’s also the second-ranked prospect in the Lone Star State.

A longtime OU commit, he has been pledged to the Sooners since July 29, 2017. His primary recruiter at Oklahoma is running backs coach Jay Boulware, while co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh also assisted in his recruitment.

In 14 games this season, McClellan rushed for 2,076 yards and 47 touchdowns on 268 carries while reeling in nine catches for 106 yards and a score.
