Cowboys rout Northern Colorado

Oklahoma State used 10 bonus point wins on Sunday to hammer Northern Colorado 47-0 in Greeley, Colorado. The win was the Cowboys’ first shutout over the Bears since December 2014.

Jacobe Smith at 174 pounds had the Cowboys’ only fall, pinning Sethan Bogulski at 3:33. Kaden Gfeller (149), Andrew Shomers (157), Chandler Rogers (165), Derek White (285) and Daton Fix (133) all had technical falls.

“We did what we hoped to do, come out and put points on the board,” said OSU coach John Smith. “We got them in critical matches that I thought could be competitive. We wrestled tough and scored points at the end of periods, which made a difference in the outcome of the score.”

OSU (5-0) next wrestles in the Reno Tournament of Champions. The tournament begins Thursday in Nevada.
