Oklahoma Sooners prepared for 18 more tough games

Oklahoma Sooners head coach Lon Kruger is thrilled with his team’s excellent start to the season, but he knows that Big 12 play will present plenty of challenges.

The Sooners picked up yet another quality win on Friday night, as they scored a 76-69 overtime win over the Northwestern Wildcats to move to 11-1 on the year.

And with non-conference play now officially over, Kruger and company will turn their attention to what figures to be another daunting Big 12 slate.

Here’s what Kruger had to say about the hot start and the road ahead for the Sooners, courtesy of the Associated Press:

“They’ve had a lot of good games, good opponents, and they’ve learned from each game, different styles, which prepares us well going into conference games,” Kruger said. “As tough as this was tonight, we’ve got 18 more of those with conference play.

“It’s a fun challenge ahead.”

The good news for Oklahoma? It’ll now get a nice little college basketball break before opening up conference play on Jan. 2.

The bad news for Oklahoma? The first game of conference play will come on the road at Allen Fieldhouse against the Kansas Jayhawks.

Yes, it’s going to indeed be a fun challenge ahead for Kruger’s squad.
