Oklahoma Reporter Addresses Rumors About QB Kyler Murray

Kyler Murray has been one of the best players in college football through the first four weeks of the 2018 college football season.

No one is replacing Baker Mayfield under center for the Sooners, but Murray is doing everything he can to make Sooners fans forget about the 2017 Heisman Trophy winner. Murray himself has developed into a Heisman Trophy contender.

Murray and No. 6 Oklahoma are set to take on Baylor in Norman, Okla. this afternoon. There are some rumors swirling about Murray’s status for this afternoon’s game.

Dean Blevins, an Oklahoma reporter for OKC-KWTV, addressed some of them on Twitter late on Friday night.

“Lotta rumors that QB Murray suspended. My sources indicate nothing major … but possibly would not start v Bay for minor violation — possibly something like late to practice. Nothing serious long term, as some suggested. Nothing confirmed,” he tweeted.

Murray is attempting to help Oklahoma win back-to-back Heisman Trophies. It would be the first time a school has done that in quite a while.

From ESPN.com:

“He does make it look easy,” Oklahoma running back Trey Sermon said. “He’s a great player, makes great decisions. Just seeing him out there, it’s kind of amazing. I love watching him play.”

College football hasn’t had different players from the same school capture the Heisman in consecutive seasons since Army’s Doc Blanchard and Glenn Davis achieved the feat in 1945-46.

The way Murray has performed so far, it’s not unthinkable that he could follow Mayfield to New York — and win the Heisman himself.

Oklahoma and Baylor are set to kick off at 3:30 p.m. E.T. The game will be on ABC.
