Oklahoma Football: The CFP Twitter account decided to give the Malcolm Kelly Freestyle to Clemson

What’s up, everyone?

It’s official. The college football season is over and talking season revs up for the next eight months, but there are some things that happened at the very end of the season that simply can’t be left alone.

For instance, what is this thievery, @CFBPlayoff?

It doesn’t take much research for me or anybody familiar with the legendary and iconic Malcolm Kelly freestyle following the 2006 Big 12 Championship to know that this is straight-up plagiarism. If I ever turned something like this in when I was in school, I probably wouldn’t have this neat little degree sitting on my desk. Fans of the Oklahoma Sooners are rightfully outraged, but sadly this isn’t the first time this kind of blatant appropriation has befallen the history of the tradition-rich Crimson & Cream (“Play Like a Champion Today” comes to mind).

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but some of y’all need to pump the breaks, or at the VERY LEAST cite your damn sources. Otherwise you’re just being reckless.

Also, Kelly’s rap can never be mentioned without linking the video. You’re welcome, America.

Congrats to Clemson and all, but this can’t be attributed to another school.

Now for today’s Hot Links! Oklahoma finishes in the top 5 of the AP Poll, A.D. Miller is headed to Champaign, James Harden breaks another poor soul’s poor ankles and more!

  • Oklahoma rounds out the 2018-19 college football season three spots higher than it began in the preseason at No. 4 in the final AP Top 25. Texas and West Virginia also finished the season ranked, while Iowa State and Oklahoma State each received votes.
  • Both ESPN and Sports Illustrated released their way-too-early top 25 rankings, and Oklahoma checks in at No. 6 on both lists.
  • I’d say these odds for winning next season’s national championship show a lot of respect for the stability and consistency of Oklahoma’s program under Lincoln Riley. After presumably losing yet another Heisman Trophy winner as well as installing a new defensive scheme, 14/1 odds is a very solid starting point.
  • Former Sooner wide receiver A.D. Miller has officially transferred to Illinois and will be eligible to play for the Fighting Illini in the fall of 2019.
  • Sooner Basketball is in for another top 25 road matchup tonight against No. 8 Texas Tech. Tip-off is at 8 pm CT and can be seen on ESPNews.
  • Check out Rickey Dixon’s commemorative football honoring his career as he will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.
  • Orlando Brown Jr. spoke about his outstanding rookie season and what his goals are for his second year as a pro with the Ravens organization.
  • Ohio State’s Dwayne Haskins has decided to forgo his remaining eligibility and enter the 2019 NFL Draft. The Heisman Trophy finalist is regarded by many as the top QB prospect in the upcoming draft class.
  • First Wesley Johnson last season, and now Jamal Murray. James Harden is adding to his victims list with these absolutely filthy ankle-breakers. This one might be his best yet, because not only did ‘The Beard’ make the three-pointer, Murray fouled him for the and-1.
  • Bonnaroo is on the horizon, and now the lineup for the 2019 edition has been revealed. Some of my personal favorites will be performing during the annual four-day music and arts festival, such as The National and Brandi Carlile. The event runs from June 13th through the 16th, with tickets going on sale this Thursday. Jack might just take a break from his responsibilities to go see Phish.
