Oklahoma Football: OL Tramonda Moore dismissed from OU program

According to a release, Oklahoma Sooners offensive lineman Tramonda Moore has been dismissed from the program for a violation of team rules.

This is rough news when considering his path to get to Oklahoma in the first place. The former John Marshall High School standout originally intended to play at OU, but when notified that it wouldn’t be possible due to academics, he chose to sign with Oklahoma State. The case was the same with OSU, and he eventually elected to enroll at Independence Community College. Moore discussed it with RJ Young earlier this year:

“Looking back,” he said. “I should’ve made my decision way earlier knowing my qualification, and with everything else going on. It just turned out that Coach (Bill) Bedenbaugh was upfront with me. I gotta take the junior college route. I needed to grow as a person on the field and in the classroom. He told me they would be in contact, and they would just go from there.”

Moore ended up taking care of his business and made his way back to Norman two years later.

The 2018 signee and former No. 4 overall JUCO prospect had been redshirting this season, but he was expected to push for a starting spot in 2019. While it’s certainly unfortunate from the standpoint of OU’s future depth, it’s much more frustrating from a human interest angle. It’s never easy to watch someone squander an opportunity — particularly when that person had come so far and had so much talent.
