OKC Dodgers named finalist for Copa de le Diversión award
The Oklahoma City Dodgers have been named one of five finalists to be awarded the inaugural Copa de le Diversión, or Fun Cup, for their alternate Hispanic/Latino identity Cielo Azul De Oklahoma City.
Minor League Baseball announced the five finalists for the award Monday morning. OKC was one of 33 teams in MiLB to compete for the award as part of the Es Divertido Ser Un Fan (It’s Fun to Be a Fan) campaign.
The Dodgers played eight home games as Cielo Azul last season with unique jerseys and new gameday elements, special food items, bilingual programs, a Spanish-speaking announcer and more.
Albuquerque, Eugene, Inland Empire and San Antonio are the other four finalists. The winner will be named Dec. 10 at the Baseball Winter Meetings.
OSU’s Miller named Big 12 Player of the Week
Oklahoma State women’s basketball star Braxtin Miller was named Big 12 Player of the Week on Monday.
The sophomore guard averaged 24.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists in three games.
