If you’re a VIP member, you’ve read quite a bit about the defensive coordinator search for Oklahoma in the past six weeks. A handful of names have been bandied about, including Alabama co-defensive coordinator Pete Golding.
However, another name that’s been in the mix since the job opened up in October is Ohio State co-defensive coordinator Alex Grinch.
Grinch is interesting because he’s worked not only in the Big Ten but the Big 12, SEC and Pac-12. His last stop before setting in Columbus, Ohio, was at Washington State where he was paired with air raid guru Mike Leach and helped lead the Cougars to a top 25 defensive ranking and was one of the best in the country at defending the pass. In this video, video columnist RJ Young breaks down Grinch’s background and strengths as the leader of a defense and why he might be a good fit for Oklahoma.
