More than 15,000 season ticket holders denied Big 12 Championship tickets, low allocation numbers blamed

* Brian Lundmark, 22-year season ticket holder: “My wife and I have had season tickets since 1996. We’ve qualified for OU-Texas tickets for I don’t know how long. We’ve bought tickets through OU to the last three Big 12 championships and even to the Rose Bowl this past January. So, when we once again put in for Big 12 tickets this year and invited my brother’s family to meet us in Dallas (exactly like we did last year), we didn’t even consider that we might not get them. We didn’t suspect anything was wrong until we hadn’t heard from OU three days after the West Virginia game. Needless to say, we’re not going now. The seat reseller site prices are outrageous, and frankly, the whole thing sort of leaves a bad taste in my mouth.”

* Adam Hess, four-year season ticket holder: “One way to fix this is to change the point system so that donations are not a part of it. Not really a fair situation to have that part of the point system. The points should be based on attendance for the season and previous seasons, or if you bought conference tickets or bowl tickets the year before.”

* Andrew Hewlett, five-year season ticket holder: “I think I am disappointed in the Big 12 for only giving that amount to universities. I could go buy tickets on StubHub or SeatGeek, but at this point will likely stay home.”

* Sue Lander, at least 30-year season ticket holder: “I am appalled at the Big 12 not making tickets available to true fans like me. To be clear, I do not blame OU for their policy of rewarding donors. The Big 12 and likely Jerry Jones are at fault. I am not a fan of either of them.”

49,000 Approximately the number of tickets both OU and Texas are allotted for the Red River Rivalry.

5,700 Big 12 Championship game tickets available on StubHub as of 11 a.m. Wednesday. SeatGeek is the official secondary ticket marketplace for the Cowboys, but they didn’t provide data.
