LAWRENCE, Kan. — Jamuni McNeace was a surprise participant Wednesday night against Kansas, but the Oklahoma center played just two minutes.
McNeace, considered “doubtful” before the game, is still recovering from a right ankle sprain he suffered a month ago. He missed his only shot in OU’s 70-63 loss.
“He gave it a try,” coach Lon Kruger said after the game. “It’s really in Jamuni’s court right now. It’s tolerance. Obviously he hasn’t practiced and felt like he could go tonight. He didn’t look comfortable out there and we’ll try to get him a few more days.”
The Sooners missed McNeace against a Jayhawks frontcourt of 6-foot-9 forward Dedric Lawson and 7-foot center Udoka Azubuike.
McNeace, a former starter, has averaged 10 minutes of playing time in OU’s last four games.
Oklahoma hosts Oklahoma State at 1 p.m. Saturday.
