The Sooners took their penultimate opportunity to impress high-priority uncommitted recruits and reassure committed recruits and their families that Oklahoma is the place they should call home as collegiate student-athletes with their showing against Oklahoma State. While fans were incensed by the defense’s performance, the takeaway for many recruits was just how big-time the program is.
Recruits and their parents were shown all of what Oklahoma has to offer—from the facilities, to support staff, to yet another sellout at Owen Field. All of those things, along with a highly-rated and thrilling game, worked in OU’s favor when it comes to 2019 and 2020 recruiting.
While OU coach Lincoln Riley and his staff figured out how to pull out a one-point victory against the Cowboys, the high school talent in attendance took photos, preened on social media and made it understood that the Oklahoma Sooners run a class program that is second to none.
