The Oklahoma Sooners just added a star cornerback who could be an impact player on Lincoln Riley’s defense for years to come. Four-star CB Jaden Davis, a Fort Lauderdale native out of powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas, has signed on the dotted line after originally committing to OU back on July 18, 2018. Davis also held offers from Texas, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, Florida, and Miami, among others.
Davis was the first to sign this morning.
247Sports Composite rankings have Davis as the No. 26 cornerback in the class of 2019 and the No. 228 prospect overall. Davis is listed at 5’11”, 170.
His successful recruitment is a step in the right direction in OU’s quest to improve the Sooner defense. His speed and athleticism make him extremely versatile, but the playmaking ability and instincts set him apart. Davis can lock down receivers in the passing game or step up in run support. If you’re looking for a size-and-speed comparison for Davis, his measurable are fairly comparable to Zack Sanchez, and his playmaking ability isn’t far off, either. He’s someone who could definitely find some early playing time in nickel situations.
