NORMAN – For the second time this season, Oklahoma wrestling’s Dom Demas has been named Big 12 Wrestler of the week, the conference announced Monday.

Wrestling at 141 pounds, redshirt freshman and No. 16 Demas upset Oklahoma State’s No. 6 Kaid Brock in a 7-6 decision Sunday.

Demas leads the Sooners in wins with 15 and pins with 4. Additionally, Demas is 3-1 against ranked opponents on the season, and has defeated six NCAA qualifiers a total of eight times since opening his OU career in November.

The Columbus, Ohio, native is the first OU wrestler to receive multiple Big 12 weekly awards in a season since Kendric Maple collected four in 2013. Demas also got a nod from The Open Mat, who named him College Wrestler of the Week for Dec. 10.

Demas and the Sooners head to Appalachian State for a non-conference contest with the Mountaineers on Sunday, Dec. 16 at 2 p.m. CT.
