Will Texas be better than Oklahoma next season?
Kevin Sherrington: I would pick Texas over Oklahoma next year.
Evan Grant: Wow.
Sherrington: Well, it’s because of the quarterback. You have Austin Kendall now and Lincoln Riley is an offensive genius, I don’t think there’s any question about that. But he had special tools to work with in Baker Mayfield and then with Kyler Murray.
Grant: He’ll be tested more next year.
Sherrington: Austin Kendall may be great. Austin will tell you ‘I have elements of both guys.’ And maybe he does, maybe he can do that and we’ll see.
But Sam Ehlinger is a proven product. At the end of last year, and certainly in the Sugar Bowl, I thought that Sam Ehlinger really showed that he’s Tim Tebow-esque.
Grant: He is. Look, the way he ran the ball and the strength with which he ran the ball in the Sugar Bowl, that was something that definitely caught my eye. I thought that the game that I saw in person this year, which was the West Virginia game, and I thought again, when he ran the ball or when he got out and moved before he threw he was a heck of a lot more dangerous than when he just sat in the pocket and he was more accurate too.
Sherrington: And he’s come a long way with his accuracy. I mean, he was not accurate at all before.
Grant: Texas made a big statement and you know how big a Georgia fan I am and you know that I’ll sit here and I’ll say I don’t think they were prepared, I don’t think they executed, but Texas beat them in every phase of the game. There’s no excuse for that on the part of Georgia, all the credit goes to Texas. They were a far better team, far better than the final score showed in that game.
