Oklahoma may have caught a big break in the first half of Friday night’s game at West Virginia.
With the score tied at 14 in the second quarter, Sooners safety Robert Barnes appeared to make helmet-to-helmet contact with West Virginia receiver Marcus Simms. The play was not called for targeting and the replay booth declined to stop the game and look at the play further.
Here’s a clip:
Barnes stays in the game, which is a huge break for the Sooners. He’s had a decent second half of the season for Oklahoma and is an important part of the secondary.
However, it appears Simms will not return. After going into the medical tent, ESPN showed Simms to be visibly frustrated with an WVU staffer who took his helmet away.
