Former Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield doesn’t miss an opportunity to talk trash to Texas.
The Browns rookie was asked about this weekend’s Red River Rivalry, and he didn’t mince words:
“We’re not going to lose,” Mayfield said. “My expectation is a win. The last time Texas was ranked for this game was 2012, and it was a beatdown.”
Mayfield isn’t wrong. The Sooners won that game 63-21 and have won six of the last eight games in this series overall, including two straight.
Mayfield won two of his three battles in the Red River Rivalry. The Sooners were upset in 2015 before winning out in the Big 12 and going on to the College Football Playoff. OU rebounded with a pair of narrow wins in 2016 and 2017.
Overall, Texas leads the series 61-46-5.
