College Sports: Big 12 Championship Game is set: Oklahoma, Texas to meet in title game for first time in rivalry’s history

The 2018 Big 12 Championship Game is set. The Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns will meet at AT&T Stadium next Saturday, Dec. 1. The game kicks off at 11 a.m. CT and will air on ABC.

Oklahoma and Texas advanced by picking up wins in their regular-season finales Friday. Texas beat Kansas, 24-17, before Oklahoma outlasted West Virginia in a shootout, 59-56.

The teams met in early October at the Cotton Bowl for the Red River Showdown, which Texas won 48-45. It remains the Sooners’ lone loss this season.

This will be 10th Big 12 Championship Game appearance in Oklahoma’s history and the sixth for Texas. The two teams have never faced off head-to-head in the title game since both were members of the South Division during the first iteration of the title game from 1996-2010. The Big 12 revived the championship game last season for the first time since they got rid of divisions.

Texas is 3-2 lifetime in the Big 12 Championship Game. Oklahoma is 8-1, including a 41-17 win over TCU in last year’s game at AT&T Stadium.

Texas leads the all-time series 62-46-5.
