ARLINGTON — Early on in his Texas career, Breckyn Hager made a promise.
That promise has stuck with the senior defensive end his entire career, and he had an opportunity to fulfill it Saturday. Hager vowed to not cut his hair until the Longhorns won the Big 12.
But after Saturday’s 39-27 loss to No. 5 Oklahoma in the league’s championship game at AT&T Stadium, Hager didn’t get the opportunity to break out the scissors and trim his long, golden locks as he had hoped.
Leading up to Saturday, there was buzz among Texas players that Hager would cut his hair on stage after the game during the trophy presentation. But no such presentation involved the Longhorns; instead it was reserved for the champion Sooners.
What’s more, following Saturday’s game, Hager appeared to delete his Twitter account — @Breckyn44. The account is no longer active.
