Clemson-Alabama finish 1-2, Buckeyes leap OU to No. 3 | Sports

Clemson finished 15-0 and ranked No. 1 in the final AP Top 25 poll of the season.

The Tigers, ahead of College Football Playoff runner-up Alabama (14-1) at No. 2, entered the CFP semifinals ranked second and defeated Notre Dame.

Ohio State (13-1) leapfrogged Oklahoma (12-2) to claim the No. 3 spot. The Sooners are fourth ahead of Notre Dame (12-1), LSU (10-3), Georgia (11-3) and Florida (10-3).

Texas (10-4) climbed five spots — as did LSU and No. 16 Texas A&M — in the poll but finished behind Georgia despite knocking off the Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl.

At No. 10 is Washington State (11-2), one spot ahead of UCF (12-1), which fell four spots after losing the season finale to LSU.

No team fell further than Michigan. The Wolverines (10-3) dipped six spots in the rankings to finish ranked 14th. No. 20 West Virginia (8-4) dropped five spots from the pre-bowl rankings.

Appalachian State narrowly missed the 25th spot, which went to Iowa (9-4).
