NORMAN — Oklahoma junior center Kur Kuath will likely miss the rest of the season with a back injury.
The transfer from Salt Lake Community College played in six games this season. He recorded six points, five rebounds and three blocks in 33 minutes.
The 6-foot-10 native of South Sudan was initially expected to redshirt when he signed with the Sooners, but Kuath impressed the coaching staff during the summer and earned a spot in the rotation.
“His back is kind of touch and go,” coach Lon Kruger said. “It looks like he’s probably not gonna get back in terms of a long-range plan.

“We’ll see how he feels weeks from now, but the longer we go into it, with as touchy as his back is, it’s probably gonna be more of a long-range rehab situation in preparation for next year.”
Kuath is expected to receive a medical redshirt, but that won’t be decided until the end of the season.
