Alabama vs. Oklahoma: Live score, updates, highlights from College Football Playoff semifinal | NCAA Football

Alabama’s renowned defense has not faced an opponent near the caliber of Oklahoma this season, and it will need to step up against the Sooners in Saturday’s College Football Playoff semifinal matchup in order to advance to the national championship game for a fourth straight season.

Defensively, Alabama held its four ranked 2018 opponents to about 13 points per game, though none of those teams possess the kind of firepower Oklahoma offers.

The Crimson Tide defense, anchored by defensive lineman Quinnen Williams and safety Deionte Thompson, runs deep with elite recruits and has been a staple of coach Nick Saban’s success amid a historic run of five titles in nine seasons. This year, the defense has scored six touchdowns on fumble and interception returns.
